This about a german geting

This about a german geting sent to jail for being “ironic” brings up so many interesting points for me. 1)Does an author have juristiction over the meaning of the words he/she writes? In the example of the german with his comments about 9/11, does his intent to draw attention to hypocracy by making a faintly ironic statment protect him from from breaking a law that forbids statements being made that “glorify crimes”?

nerves

why does North Korea make me nervios .

and H was right this is a really, really, cool word tool, just the way my mind works best.

I am here in madrid.

I am here in madrid.

If there is one thing that is different than the way it was the last time I visited here it is that now I am quite a bit more nervious while walking alone in the streets, hummm I wonder why that is? I am sure I will regain my confidence eventually but today and yesterday have not been the easiest on my nerves.

I went to the doctor today and he told me that the wound looked ok, but that I needed to start on more antiboitics which would be fine if not for the fact they make it very hard to sleep. blah. Anyway, madrid is cool. not cool in the way florence is cool, but cool in the way chicago is cool. very very simalar cities.

This NewYear I have at

This NewYear I have at least one SOLID resolution and it consist in a number of parts. 1) figure out how many countries there are in the world, 2) look at each country individually from a number of points of few 3) Determine if under their current political structure I would be sent to jail for believing the things I believe. 4) Put those countries that would put me in jail on my “against” list. We?ll see.

Wouldn?t you know that the best place to start such a journey is with none other than the CIA World Fact Book God bless you CIA… god bless you every one.

keep it on the DL

Ari Fleischer, the president’s press secretary, said, “The bottom line remains the president is dedicated to an open government, a responsive government, while he fully exercises the authority of the executive branch.” Then why oh why is this in the Nytimes? maybe because the Bush administration is a fan of doublespeak and is doing everything he can to be like Ronald Regan back in 1984. Maybe. Just maybe.

It is funny to me that I find myself getting so upset about a president. I used to think politics were boreing, mostly because I liked to listen to punk rock like Screeching Weasel that told me so. It is just that they had a really catchy song that went like “dah dah dah politics is Fu%king boring” so from time to time I remember that line and have a butthead style laugh in my head, like “huh, huh, it is boring.” But for the most part now Politics put me on the edge of my seat. I guess what has changed for me is that after Politics the next thing on my mind is myself as a political animal and the reason I feel like I am trying to be killed. (rightly or wrongly) Things just seem so personal.

last day in granada

Today was my last day of class here in granada… it makes me sad to leave my friends, but oh well. I had such a fantasticly fun new years, and a hang over to prove it. You wouldn?t think that a bottle of rum between three people would do much, live and learn I guess. I did finish my 12 grapes though, right on time, which means I can look forward to the realization of 12 desires this coming year. how exciteing. what is it that I desire? it?s always the practical issues that throw me for a loop.

On sunday I go to madrid for my last 3 weeks of class
