Alpine Skiing
Yesterday was my first offical day skiing in the alps! and it did not disappoint any of my expectaions in the slightest, which is saying a huge amount because I have been dreaming of skiing the alps for as long as I have been able to slide on snow, which is essentially all of my life.
The area I went to was the Stubaital in Austria. It is such a HUGE area, it has nearly 6000 vertical feet of continuous vert which in high season can be skied in less than 10 minutes via a 15 kilometer piste. it is staggering. Given the fact that I had never even heard of Stubai before moving to Garmisch I can only imagine how spectactular the skiing is going to be at places like St. Anton and Soelden which are known to be impressive. I am looking forward to it.
