keep left!: the Crown Range cometh.
The Crown Range Road is as good a place as any to get comfortable driving a right hand drive car. It is New Zealand’s highest paved road topping out at a sky high 1067m, a full 2 meters higher than its nearest competitor. It bullies its way up to its height with a series of progressively steeper and tighter turns and switchbacks. To say that I didn’t
enjoy myself would be a lie, I had a marvelous time, it was simply accompanied with the feeling of certain impending doom with each oncoming car. The mantra that both Corrie and I continually repeated was simple yet effective: KEEP LEFT! keep left, keep left, please keep left. It was just a matter of time before my brain made the switch and everything felt proper again. I think that I am less of a hazard to myself and others now, it’s great to have personal progress. ![]()
